Thursday / Friday May 3/4

 

 

Goals

  • Students will review for the Unit 4 (Standards 4,5,6, and 7) test

Activities

  • Review of problem from the last period

    • We will do a peer review using a rubric

    • Mr. Weir will lead you thru a review of the question
       

  • Practice Test

    • Multiple Choice Questions -- you will be allowed to use your notes to answer 25 review questions.  A grade will be taken on this activity.

    • Problem -- you will be given a set of economic indicators and you will describe the appropriate fiscal and monetary policies that must be put into place.  A grade will be taken on this activity.
       

  • Historical Overview of the recent economic downturn

    • You will review the actions taken by Pres. Bush and Pres. Obama and evaluate their strategies.  (20 points)
       

Homework

  • Study for the test next period! (May 7/8)

    • Test Design

      • 25 multiple choice questions covering background detail (types of unemployment, etc.)

      • 1 problem - you will be required to detail how to use fiscal and monetary policy to overcome an economic problem
         


 

Standard 8

 

Students will understand why individuals, businesses and governments trade goods and services and how trade affects the economies of the world.

  • To come to some understanding as to how the world has changed over the last 4 years.

  Define and distinguish between absolute and comparative advantage.

  • Understand why nations trade through the use of a simulation

  Define trade barriers, such as quotas and tariffs.

  Explain why countries erect barriers to trade.

  Explain how changes in exchange rates impact the purchasing power of people in the United States and other countries.

 

Goals

  • Be able to define trade barrier, trade quota, and trade tariff.

  • Be able to explain reasons why a country might block trade from occurring.

  • Be able to explain how exchange rates for national currency are determined.

  • Complete the reading, questions, and problem begun in class.
